David Boyd August 2004

An August Message from your President.
I want to take this space to thank Platt Green for building the time boxes.
Did you get a T-Shirt or one of the sweatshirts? How about ordering a hat? Show your support for the club. They will be at the next meeting and the all events.
We would like to thank our event sponsor “Madras Sanitary Service – ACCO Event #8”.
What would we do with out our Season sponsor – SOUNDSFAST, the PA has been great.
Our August event provided us with a practice day the had a fast course of Slalom cones down one side, a passenger crossover wearing down your drivers side tires, into off set gates that most only had to twitch their cars, then a drivers side sweeper into the middle of the slalom, then into another drivers side sweeper, then taking the off set gates to the finish.
It was also our first of many to come Central Oregon Police Stampede events. The Redmond Police showed up with one driver and two other officers. Officer Allen Speck took his cruiser for four timed runs around the practice course. Of course he had his lights on for the first run. I think the lights slowed him down as that was his slowest time by two seconds. His times were 49.282, 48.398, 47.493 and 47.804. We also invited the Special Olympics out along with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bend and Redmond. We had one little brother and little sister go for lots of rides with club members. Every time I say them they had smiles on.
Madras Sanitary Services-Event #8 had 61 drivers competing on a Hagner special. The weekend provided Mike Millikan to much time to sort out his car and thus taking Top Time of the Day. We had good competition from WMC and EESCC members that came over the hill as they took the top three spots. Bert Jacoson had the best raw time by almost a full second but he could not keep those big slicks from sticking out and hitting cones. His new motor sounds great.
Until September 11th have fun and drive defensively.

David
