Skid Control Practice
Saturday June 21, 2008


Skid Control registration will be open from 11:30 Till 3:30
Skid Control Practice Event will begin at 4:00 PM

Autocross Club of Central Oregon's Performance Driving Events #3 & #4
are June 21-22 at the Deschutes Co. Fairgrounds in Redmond, OR.
Following Event #3, ACCO will be holding a
Skid Control Practice.
This portion of the event is designed to test the limits of handling under
extreme driving conditions in order to learn how to safely recover.
Registration will close at 4 PM and entry is included with regular event entry.
All types of cars and drivers are welcome to participate in navigating the course.
There are classes for non-modified cars and coaches to help novice drivers.

Morning registration closes at 8:30 am. and racing begins at 9:00 am.
There will also be an afternoon registration ending at 12:30 pm.
Entry is $30/ participant, $25/ voting member, $15/ student, and yearly membership
is just $25. Autocross racing is fun, fast, and family-friendly with the emphasis
on safety and vehicle control.

The May event was record breaking HOT!
Sunday May 18th was the 2nd point event of the year and Matt Dow From Eugene (DM 48.097) takes Top Time of the day with his bright yellow "D" Modified 1976 VW Rabbit.
Jeff Neal takes top Time with his 1974 Datsun 260Z "F" Prepared 1974 Datsun 260Z
Randy Ham (SM II) and Marvin Wodtli (SM II) fight it out for Top "Street Modified" with Randy just missing it by ".063"
Top "Street Prepared" title goes to Sid Widmer (BSP).
Jeff Ellington (STX) will hold on to Top "Touring".
JoAnn Hare leads the ladies in "E" Stock.
and what a great day for the "Stock" catagory, David Boyd drives a "2008 Porsche GT3 RS", Who cares about the win, its all about the how good you look in the car.
Top PAX goes to Marvin Wodtli(SM II).

Monthly Club Meeting dates has changed


Meetings will be held the Wednsday before a event, Next monthly meeting is on July 16, 2008.
Meetings are still held at Pappy's Pizza in Bend next to Fred Meyers,
Social time at 6:00 Meeting starts at 6:30 pm

Cleanup

All categories will run both morning and afternoon, you will get 3 run per session.
If you take your 3 runs in the morning group and you are satisfied with your time you can leave or stay and run 3 in the afternoon group for a total of 6 runs.
You can run in the afternoon group for 3 runs.
All runs will count toward points. Your best time of the day will be counted for points.
The groupings may be modified during the course of the year if the ACCO determines a change is appropriate. Please post any question you have in the forum.

Oregon Shootout Invitational
October 11 & 12, 2008


You need to compete in 6 of the 10 ACCO point events to qualify for the Oregon Shootout Invitational;
If you are earning points in the ACCO club you can carry over 1 event from another club to help you qualify,
if you have 5 events at ACCO you can carry over one event from another club to equal 6 events,
if you already have 6 events you can not carry over to increase your total points.
To qualify for the Shootout, Place 1st or 2nd in class by your club rules.

Event Fee:
Voting Members $25.00
Non-Voting Members $30.00
Students w/ School Id $15.00

Voting Membership: $25.00 annual (Jan.- Dec.)

Volunteers are needed for the "2008" season.


One free fun run will be awarded to a person that takes on a setup Task.
A task will be assigned to a volunteer the month before the event.

Hoodoo Ski Area is easy to reach from the Willamette Valley.
  Take Hwy 22 from Salem,
    Hwy 20 from the Corvallis/Albany area and Hwy 126 from Eugene.
   From the east side of the
Mountains take Hwy 126 to Hwy 20 from Redmond or take Hwy 20 from Bend. From the valley
It's about 90 min. Salem and 45 min. from Central Oregon.


2008 PAX Index Released

The Racers Theoretical Performance index by, Rick Ruth, has been published.
The index is derived from the study of results from over 200 nationwide autocross events.
The index has been used for over 14 years and is constantly adjusted as cars and classes evolve.

Members, do you know someone intersted in Autocross?,

"Fun Runs"

ACCO now offers member-sponsored Fun Runs! This means that ACCO members can bring a friend and get them a discount rate on laps around the course after a Driving Event.


Also, Volunteer Workers receive a FREE Fun Run, so come help out and get a free lap.
Fun runs are held after competition runs are finished.
Fun Run Fees: Volunteer Worker: 1 Free run, then 2 for $5
Member-sponsored driver: 2 Fun Runs for $5
Non-participating driver: $5 per Fun Run
Event Participant: $1 per Fun Run
Fun runs are still a Run\ Work event, if you take a fun run be sure to work a safety station so someone else can run.
